Self Publishing, Promotion and other writerly skills

There’s a switch in your head tells you no no no, not Twitter, not a blog, no no no, not me, that world is not for me. There’s a little voice says self promotion is worse than vanity publishing, and vanity publishing is an evil. There’s a learned notion that you should not tell anyone you write poetry, that it’s a little secret you must keep until the great and the good of the publishing world find you in some obscure garrett, dying and decide to celebrate your life’s work with wads of cash and plenty of cake. There’s this theory that artists must struggle alone in poverty, never revealing the beauty of their souls to anyone but their very nearest and dearest.
It’s all nonsense. It doesn’t happen that way.
Yes, it is a bit scary. Like any new skill, it is daunting. But, once you have mastered it, then you launch yourself, your talents, your gorgeous voice into the world and you feel excited, exhilarated, empowered.
It is empowering. Change the little voice, turn off the NO switch. Transform the negative ‘can’t do’ to the positive’ can-do’. Take on the whole digital world in simple easy steps. We start with WordPress then Facebook, then Twitter. We learn one platform per week until your voice, your words, your wonderful talents are available everywhere on line.
It doesn’t matter if you are selling poetry books or massage treatments. The principle is the same. If you are not discoverable on line, then you are limiting yourself. You can find your audience or your customers. You can tell them who you are, what you do and why they will benefit from your service.
For the entire month of October I am offering a series of two hour tutorials for £30. In one session you will have a website, a brand, a blog, a Facebook selling page and a twitter account. My clients thus far are delighted, thrilled, thankful and more importantly – empowered.
If you are interested, please use the contact form below and I will get in touch.
